Dr. Jim Morgan is a board-certified Emergency Medicine physician with over 45 years of frontline and leadership experience in EMS medicine (and he has the lines on his face to prove it). Based in Southwest Missouri, he serves as Medical Director for multiple EMS agencies and provides physician oversight for hundreds of prehospital providers across the region.

He began his career in EMS with Carthage (MO) Ambulance Service in 1978.  He was passionate about EMS growing up and wrote to the Los Angeles County Fire Department about their "new" paramedic program.  Their response can be found on the 'Links' page.

Throughout his EMS career he has served with Carthage, Joplin, Newton County, and Barry-Lawrence County.  He has been a field EMT and paramedic as well as Field Supervisor with Joplin Emergency Medical Services [JEMS].  He is convinced that his EMS training and experiences provided him with distinct advantages in medical school.

Five years after residency he returned to southwest Missouri to begin the next chapter as an emergency medicine attending at Freeman Health System and helped to develop the FHS Emergency Medicine residency to help train the next generation of EM physicians.  After returning to southwest Missouri, he added "EMS Medical Director" to his title.
